The vision

A store that is more than a store: a place where every purchase gives something back to the member, and where the business helps the families around it. D'Brothers starts as one community mini-store, proves its system, and then grows store by store with partners who share that vision.

D'Brothers is a separate brand from the Arnoks franchise, built by the same family. The two share one rewards platform, so a member has more reasons to come back to both.

The founder

Portacio M. Taguines

Portacio M. Taguines

Founder, D'Brothers Community Store

  • BS Economics, major in Banking and Finance, Lyceum of the Philippines, Intramuros
  • Father of six; husband of Evangelina Taguines
  • Years of work abroad in Italy, with the whole family always in view
  • Father of Jonathan Taguines, founder of Arnoks
“Love your neighbor, even your enemy, as much as your brothers in flesh and in faith, for God is love to everyone.”The line from Scripture he placed at the top of his very first plan for the store.

Portacio Taguines is seventy-seven and still writes business plans at dawn. He studied economics, banking and finance at the Lyceum in Intramuros, worked for years in Italy to carry his family of six, and came home with an idea he refuses to put down: a store where the customer is not a stranger but a brother.

His plan is unusual for a man trained in banking, because it does not start with margins. It starts with a verse: love your neighbor. From that he reasons his way to the mechanics: a membership card so the store knows its people, points so every purchase gives something back, a fund so a family that loses its member is not left alone, and a year-end draw so the whole community has a reason to celebrate together. Only then does he talk about rice by the sack, coffee and sugar, the mini-store that becomes a franchise.

He is candid about his age and his limits, and clear about what he wants to leave behind. In his words to his children: if he is no longer here, continue the program of love for all people. D'Brothers is that program, written down so that it can outlive its founder. Jonathan, his son and the founder of Arnoks, is building it with him: the system, the stores, and the shared rewards that connect a D'Brothers store to every Arnoks outlet.

How D'Brothers works

🛒 1. The community mini-store

A small, clean neighbourhood supermarket for everyday needs: rice, coffee, sugar, canned goods, cooking essentials and household basics. Fair prices for members and for the whole community, a few steps from home.

💳 2. The membership card

Members buy a card once and shop with it every time. The card is the key to member prices, member-only promos, birthday privileges and the rewards program. Membership is about belonging, not just discounts.

🧮 3. The computerized rewards system

Every qualifying purchase is recorded on the member's card and earns points. Points add up and are redeemed for approved products or discounts in the network, under clear written rules. The earning rate is set so the program stays healthy for years, not just for the launch.

🤝 4. One membership across brands

The same card works at D'Brothers for groceries and at participating Arnoks outlets for fried chicken and meals, with partner merchants joining later. One membership, more ways to earn, more reasons to come back.

🏘️ 5. Benefits for members and their families

The heart of the founder's idea: membership that helps a family in a hard moment. A member-assistance program is being designed with proper funding and, where insurance is involved, only through a licensed insurance company. The exact benefits are published when they are final, not before.

🏪 6. Franchising, after the first store proves it

The first D'Brothers store is the laboratory. Once the store, the membership and the rewards show they work, the model is written up as a franchise package for operators and partners across the provinces.

One member's week

  1. Maria buys her D'Brothers membership card at the store near her home.
  2. She does her weekly grocery run at D'Brothers; the system records it and adds points to her card.
  3. On Sunday the family eats at a participating Arnoks outlet; her card earns points there too.
  4. Her points add up. At the counter she redeems them for approved products or a discount, by the written rules.
  5. She has a reason to come back to both stores, and both stores know their regular customers by name.

The plan, step by step

  1. Finalize the concept: products, customers, pricing, membership rules.
  2. Open one mini-store and test real demand.
  3. Launch the membership system: register members, track purchases.
  4. Switch on rewards and watch retention and redemption.
  5. Connect selected Arnoks outlets to the same card.
  6. Review the numbers: is the system sustainable for the long run?
  7. Write the franchise package from a proven model, then grow store by store.

The first store is the laboratory for the whole system. Franchising comes only after it proves itself.

Our promises

  • We publish numbers only when they are final: card price, earning rate, redemption rules, member benefits.
  • Rewards are earned on real purchases and redeemed under written rules; the program is funded so it lasts.
  • Any insurance that becomes part of it comes only from a licensed insurance company under its own policy. D'Brothers is not an insurer.
  • D'Brothers is an independent brand with its own agreements and books, partnered with Arnoks through one rewards platform.
  • No earnings or returns are promised to anyone, anywhere. Franchise and partnership details are shared privately, in writing.

Questions people ask

Is D'Brothers part of the Arnoks franchise?

No. It is a separate brand from the same family. The two share one rewards platform, so a member earns at both. Each has its own agreements and its own books.

How much is the membership card, and how do points work?

The card price and the earning rate are being finalized against real store margins so the program stays healthy. We publish them when they are final, not before.

Is there life insurance or death assistance for members?

A member-assistance program is being designed. Where insurance is part of it, it comes only from a licensed insurance company under its own policy. Nothing is promised until it is in writing.

Can I franchise a store or invest now?

Not yet. The first store opens first and proves the system. Leave your details and the franchise and partnership information reaches you personally the moment it is ready. Nothing is sold or collected on this page.

When does it open?

The first store and the membership go live by March 2027. Everyone on the list hears first.

Open for franchise. Partners and investors welcome.

Leave your details and we send you the information personally as soon as it is final: the store package, the membership system, and how partners take part. Nothing is sold or collected on this page, and there is nothing to decide today.
